Message from the Dean
Welcome to the School of Nursing at Morehouse School of Medicine.
It is my honor to welcome you to a community dedicated to academic excellence, professional
integrity, and the advancement of health equity. In alignment with the mission of
Morehouse School of Medicine, the School of Nursing prepares graduates to lead, serve,
and improve health outcomes in underserved and vulnerable populations through education,
research, and clinical practice.
Our nursing programs are designed in accordance with the standards of the Commission
on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), ensuring that our curriculum, faculty qualifications,
and student outcomes reflect nationally recognized benchmarks for quality and continuous
improvement. Through a rigorous and evidence-based curriculum, students develop the
clinical competence, critical thinking skills, and leadership capabilities necessary
to deliver safe, effective, and patient-centered care across diverse healthcare environments.
Central to our educational philosophy is a commitment to population health, interprofessional
collaboration, and culturally responsive practice. We emphasize the integration of
theory and practice, providing students with meaningful clinical experiences that
prepare them to address complex health challenges and reduce disparities at the individual,
community, and systems levels.
Our faculty are accomplished educators, clinicians, and scholars who are deeply committed
to student success. Through mentorship, academic support, and engagement in scholarship
and service, we foster an environment that promotes lifelong learning, ethical practice,
and professional growth.
Graduates of the School of Nursing are prepared to assume roles as practitioners,
leaders, and advocates who promote health, advance equity, and drive innovation in

Dr. McLeod-Sordjan, the inaugural Dean of the Graduate Education in Nursing Program, brings nearly 4 decades of experience in clinical practice, education, healthcare ethics, and systems leadership. Her credentials span family health, palliative and acute care, and HIV specialist, underscoring the depth and breadth she brings to this role. Dr. McLeod-Sordjan’s leadership reflects MSM’s commitment to redefining the role of the nurse in 21st-century healthcare. She envisions nurses as bridge builders – linking policy and practice, connecting under-resourced communities with healthcare systems, closing the gap between historic inequities and a more just future. Under her direction, MSM is cultivating advanced practice registered nurses who excel in clinical settings and are educated to conduct research, influence health policy, and lead multidisciplinary teams in high-stakes environments.
Dr. Angela Richard-Eaglin, DNP, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC, FAANP, CDE, FADLN, FAAN
Dr. Angela Richard-Eaglin is the inaugural Sr. Associate Dean, Chief of Clinical & Academic Education, and brings more than three decades of clinical experience spanning primary care, public health, disaster response, Veterans' health, women’s health, and urgent care to her academic leadership. She is a nationally recognized nursing leader whose career centers on transforming healthcare education through equity, cultural intelligence, and inclusive practice. A board-certified family nurse practitioner with a DNP from Loyola University New Orleans, she is also a Certified Cultural Intelligence Facilitator, Unconscious Bias Coach, and Certified Diversity Executive, widely known for advancing equity-focused educational models and guiding institutions in cultural humility and inclusion.
Her influence extends across national organizations, shaping the future of nursing and health professions education. Dr. Richard‑Eaglin serves in key leadership roles with the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties and the National League for Nursing, contributing to major initiatives addressing structural racism, implicit bias, and social justice. She is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and an inaugural Fellow of the Academy of Diversity Leaders in Nursing, recognition that reflects her national impact, scholarly contributions, and commitment to advancing equitable healthcare globally.
