Gene Profiling Core
The Gene Profiling Core is comprised of four primary labs: DNA Sequencing, Human Genotyping, Functional Genomics and Bioinformatics. The DNA Sequencing Lab is the longest-established lab in the Gene Profiling Core, providing DNA sequence analysis to investigators involved in research utilizing molecular biology techniques. The lab uses capillary electrophoresis sequencing technology and is built around the ABI 3130xl Gene Analyzer (16-capillary) and associated software for DNA sequence analysis. The Human Genotyping Lab applies the genomic technologies to population-based research. Currently, the Human Genotyping Lab provides service on the novel SNP discovery and SNP genotyping service. The Functional Genomics Lab offers an integrated Genomic-based approach for basic research problems and clinical applications. This lab provides an extensive, yet finite profile of the genes expressed in cells, tissues or organs at any given time. The Bioinformatics suite provides enterprise level bioinformatics software solutions for investigators in basic, translational, and clinical research. Bioinformatics analysis includes, but is not limited to, identification of genetic biomarkers and tangible diagnostic applications.
