Neuroscience Institute
Overview
The mission of the Neuroscience Institute is to create a supportive and challenging environment for investigating and teaching the functional organization of the nervous system, for studies of mechanisms that underlie nervous system disorders and for translating acquired knowledge into effective treatments.
Research Interests
Key research interests include: Circadian Rhythms, Stroke, Epilepsy, and Physiology of Sleep & Sleep Disorders. Learn more about the research conducted in the Neuroscience Institute.
Faculty
The Neuroscience Institute employs 21 full faculty members, many of whom are nationally and internationally recognized in their field.

The Neuroscience Institute offers courses that introduce students to the major advancements in modern neuroscience.
SNRP
The Neuroscience Institute is the recipient of a cooperative agreement with the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke to augment and strengthen its research programs focused on NINDS mission.
Core Facilities
Strong labs equal strong research capabilities. MSM is home to core facilities encompassing multiple technologies. All facilities offered by the Core are located in the Neuroscience Institute.
M.S. in Neuroscience
The MS in Neuroscience degree program provides students with an intensive research experience and mentoring, thus preparing graduates for careers in the rapidly expanding field of Neuroscience or progressing successfully into further graduate level educational endeavors. Graduates of the program will have a foundation of technical, theoretical, and interpersonal skills that will equip them for related careers in academia, industry, and health care.
B.S./M.S. Neuroscience Research Program
In collaboration with Morehouse College, Spelman College and Clark Atlanta University, students immerse themselves in Neuroscience coursework and research. Within 5 years of starting their undergraduate degree students receive both B.S. degree from their undergraduate institution and an M.S. degree in Neuroscience from MSM.
